Now let’s get started with this week’s awesome blog. Drum roll, please…. How to Plan a Raised Bed Vegetable Garden By Jeanne at Home Garden Joy
What makes Jeanne’s blog awesome? Here’s my feedback:
- It is so stinkin’ pretty! This home and garden blog will appeal to women and with those sweet pastel colors, a girl can’t help but melt into the page.
- Not only do I love Jeanne’s color choice but I am also a big fan of her chevron background. Not too long ago I had a similar background for my blog 😉 Chevron is popular and hip for 2015.
- Take note of her About page. Jeanne tells us how she became a blogger and what she left behind for her new life. She lets us know what her blog is about and why she is an authority on home and garden topics. Jeanne makes it clear that she is “not a mommy blogger” which I love. Mommy bloggers are BIG right now, but isn’t is nice to read about something else for once!
- In the sidebar of Home Garden Joy you can’t miss the newsletter signup widget. These are great widgets because they encourage the reader to return. Getting a newsletter is like getting a reminder in your mailbox that says, “Don’t forget I am here! Come read me!”
- Jeanne has the IBA member badge in her sidebar as well. She is proudly telling everyone about the International Bloggers Association. If you haven’t heard of us, you are a little behind 😉 Get your game on and become a member! Enough shameless promotion… let’s finish with one more tip 😉
- Home Garden Joy is a WordPress site. WordPress is amazing for more then one reason. As a new blogger, I used Blogger. After a while I realized how limiting Blogger can be. If you are unsure, use WordPress.org, NOT WordPress.com. Org gives you more control. If you are going to make the switch from Blogger, do it right.
Now let’s review these six blogging tips we can apply to our blog that Jeanne applies at Home Garden Joy. You may notice repeats from the following week’s tips but repetition is how we learn!
- Sweet pastel color combo
- Hip chevron background
- Informative About page
- Newsletter signup widget
- IBA member
- WordPress
What do you like about Jeanne’s blog? Let me know below if you applied any of these blogging tips. Our next, Let’s Make Your Blog Awesome, will be up and running on Friday, February 20th. Have a wonderful week wherever you are in the world! Signing off, Tina
