Today we have an interesting interview from Shreya Das of Da”s”yphered. Though many may call her a feminist, or a rebel! But she really just considers herself as a humanist. Even though Shreya’s life has been full of challenges, she still manages to believe the world around can be changed, and can be made beautiful for everyone!
What do you blog about at Da”s”yphered?
I love blogging, but do not have any particular genre. It’s a personal blog… I write when and whatever I feel connected to. My blog typically covered these areas so far: travelogue, photography, poetry, personal experience, documentary making, and a lot more.
How long have you been blogging? What motivated you to start?
Here is a brief history of how I started my blogging journey. I began blogging by casually writing a poem for myself. Which incidentally, I posted in a national blogging contest held by a premiere Media House in India (India Today). To my surprise, my first ever poem won the contest and allowed me to experience a very prestigious & glamorous event enamored by celebrities called the #IndiaTodayConclave15 !!! Ever since then my life has changed.
What is your favorite part of blogging?
I love blogging because it is a great stress buster, and gives a lot of me-time.
What is the hardest part about blogging for you?
To find out time for regular blogging. I also find it incredibly difficult to draw enough traffic to my blogs. I haven’t grasped that skill yet, and would love to get suggestions for that.
Who is your favorite blogger and why?
I do not have any particular favorite but I enjoy reading these.

What do you do for fun when you aren’t blogging?
I am a toastmaster at a Toastmasters International club based out of Kolkata, India. I love public speaking.
Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
My divorce shattered me… the most… for some point of time, but now it entertains me! I feel free and happy again!
What did you do before you began blogging? What skills do you have?
My first ever attempt in writing was through a poem, written during times when I was emotionally broken and distressed. Heartbroken from an unexpected divorce, after a brief love marriage at 28. I took to writing poems to speak out my misery and created my blog at WordPress after much hesitation. I pursue blogging as a hobby, now, alongside my profession of being a Transportation Planner (holding my PhD in the subject from a premiere institute in India – Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur).
Have you been published anywhere else either online or in print?
Yes, some of my blogs have been published in HuffPost India and inTravel Magazine.
Huffington Post.in (Pictures: A Heritage Walk In Old Kolkata)
inTravel Magazine (Sunderbans, India and the Royal Bengal Tiger)
What do you hope to achieve with your blog and online presence?
Blogging is a good stress buster, and a great way to interact with like minded people. I blog to be heard and read. I wish to publish my work someday, but I am waiting till after I identify a particular genre I am going stick to. As of now, I do not write on any specific genre.
I would also like earn a living from my blog if given an opportunity.
