Have you ever wondered what syndicated blog posts were? How can they benefit you as a blogger? Is there anything you should worry about before submitting your links?
This is a topic I’ve wanted to write about for awhile. As a blogger learning the in’s and out’s of syndication can really increase your readership. So let’s get started, and remember I’m here to help you learn all about this awesome resource you need to be using. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, because that is how we all learn!
What Are Syndicated Blog Posts?
Syndicated blog posts mean you’re republishing your work out to third-party websites. These websites may publish your full article, a small snippet, or just a link on their site. Keep in mind syndication is not just your ‘words’ but can also be any videos and images on your site.
How Can Syndication Benefits You?
Here at the IBA we regularly syndicate our members’ content on our site. Why? We want our members to succeed, and when your amazing posts are published here we promote the fire out of them! Not only are they are on our site forever with links back to your blog, but we also share them via all our social media channels and feature you in our email newsletter!
Another awesome benefit is that it really is very little work on your part! You’ve already written the post so all you need to do is submit links to get published.

Why Does This Help You?
Your syndicated blog post is now being reached by a whole new audience. AKA free advertising for you as a blogger, but don’t waste the opportunity! Make sure you have your site ready to easily capture those new readers because you want them to keep coming back way after the article is published. Are your social media subscribe links easy to access? Is your email sign up box in more than one place? Trust me they will NOT look hard to find those.
You also receive the prestige of knowing your writing rocked it and is a value to that site’s readers. Plus, there is no better feeling than seeing all your hard work finally being noticed!
Are There Any Risks to Syndication?
Yes, but most sites will work hard to make sure both of your SEO rankings are not affected because they do want to be dinged either. The main thing you need to make sure of is that the site syndicating your post is using a canonical URL pointing to you. What is a canonical URL? Basically, it tells the search engines who gets credit for being the first to publish and who really owns that content. That is extremely important for you, and you do not want any confusion there.
Most websites will have all their rules on the page you submit on. Be sure and read those BEFORE you submit your links. You want to fully understand what you are getting into before you hit submit because once you submit you are giving them the authorization to republish your content. You really are entering into an agreement with that website.
