Ribe was of special interest to us as it is very near where my family originated. But, you are going to love it because it is Denmark’s oldest town. It is a great seaside town that has a wonderful medieval city to explore. Climb the town’s cathedral for expansive views. Discover the Vikings, a definite favorite of ours. Take the Nightwatchman’s tour. These are always a fun way to see a town at night, and we do them whenever we discover a town has one.
Probably known most as the home of Hans Christian Anderson, the city offers many attractions related to the writer. But, there is more to this town than that. There are at least 10 different art museums to become engrossed in. There is a historic quarter in Odense that is charming and worth exploring.
This was another seaside town that was of particular interest to us as Jo can trace her family roots here. We both can get our Viking on! You are going to love this picturesque town. It’s an old port town located on Faaborg Fjord. This friendly little town is nestled around a great little town square from which you can enjoy an open air music experience along while enjoying al fresco dining at one of the restaurants. The old merchant’s city still has its original small cozy streets inviting you to stroll and enjoy.
Alright! Listen up! You must visit the Isle of Ærø, and its main port village of Ærøskøbing! One of the most beautiful towns and villages to visit in Denmark! This is one of those places you will be talking about for years afterward. Talk about an idyllic tranquil setting! Hire a bike. Cycle the island. Enjoy the peace. Escape the world. Sit at a restaurant savor your first experience of whale cheese. I hope you will trust me that you can not miss visiting here. Catch the ferry from Svendborg. Make sure you go sans car to get the full feeling.
You know it’s really hard to escape those blasted Vikings when you are in Denmark! And, Roskilde is famous for its interactive Viking museum. You can take part in many activities including taking part in rowing and sailing an authentic Viking long boat. The museum also houses a Viking ship that was dredged up in a fairly intact condition. It’s an amazing sight.
Situated north of Copenhagen, Hillerød is a captivating little city in Denmark, where you will find the 17th-century Frederiksborg Castle. It is best known for its splendid castle and the beautiful baroque garden.
We stumbled upon Dragør as we had a late afternoon flight and this was very close by. And, what wonderful find it turned out to be. The well-preserved village is warm and welcoming. After a stroll around the old village finds a place to sit and enjoy a meal and take in the views of the water front and the amazing bridge that spans across Øresund all the way to Malmö in Sweden.

And, it’s still mostly that, but they also share their thoughts on travel products and accommodations too, to help out those that are looking for tips in those areas.
