The new Canva app is the fastest way to create and share graphics! I’m sure you’ve already heard about Canva.com, the free graphic design platform that allows you to easily create and edit beautiful images, graphics, documents, and just about anything else you can think of. You don’t need to be a graphic designer to create beautiful designs with Canva. Anyone can do it! And now that ‘there’s an app for that’ creating and sharing graphics has never been simpler!
If you’re a blogger, you probably already use Canva, or at least you’ve heard about it (I hope). I use it myself. All. The. Time. And here at the IBA most of the images on our website are created with Canva. Including the one right above. 😉
Now the minute I heard that Canva was launching their new, much-anticipated, app for iOS I knew I had to download it immediately. If you know me or follow my blog, you know that I get everything done through apps, designing and sharing images and graphics is no exception!
I’ve been using the Canva app on my iPhone and iPad ever since it launched (back in July) and it truly is the fastest way to create and share graphics. Today I’ll tell you all about the Canva app, in case you haven’t downloaded it just yet.
But first let me tell you a bit about Canva.com, just in case you’ve been living under a rock… hehehe!Canva is the fastest way to create and share graphics. Anyone can do it! Click To Tweet
What is Canva?
As I mentioned, Canva is a fantastic tool for editing photos and creating graphics of any kind. The best part about it is that you can use it for free! No need to download expensive software. You can try Canva yourself by heading over to Canva.com
Although the Canva website is free to use, and they do include some free images and layouts you can choose from, there are minimal fees if you want to use their stock photos or other premium options. For example, you can purchase a one-time use image for just $1. Of course, you can always upload your own images, and that won’t cost you a cent.
Canva also offers a premium option for $12.95 per month or $9.95 if you choose to pay annually and it’s called ‘Canva For Work.’ I use this premium option and find it well worth every cent! Especially since it gives me so many options for branding, storing and repurposing my images. But that’s for an entirely different post.
Now let’s actually talk about the Canva app itself…
How does the new Canva App for iOS work?
Just like the website, this companion app available for iPhone and iPad lets you edit photos, create beautiful designs and professional looking graphics of all kinds. You can get started in seconds with hundreds of templates and tweak them to best suit your needs. You can download the free app here.
Like Canva.com, the Canva app lets you take your images to the next level. It’s so easy to edit your photos using preset filters, or you can get fancy by adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, blur, and more. With more than six quadrillion options, you’ll never run out of choices!
One Million Images to Choose From
Choose from Canva’s library of more than 1 million premium images or design with hundreds of free elements and fonts. You also have the option of using your own images from your camera roll or take photos on the go when creating your designs.
Share and Publish
Once you’re done designing, you can share directly to your favorite social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google+. You can even schedule social media posts using Buffer or schedule pins using Tailwind. You can also share your designs via email, text, messaging apps and more.
Access Your Existing Designs
One of the features I appreciate the most is that I can access all my existing designs right from the app. Anything I previously created from my computer through the Canva website is at my fingertips with the Canva app.
It’s so easy to edit and repurpose images and graphics, and that’s why the Canva app is the fastest way to create and share graphics for me. As you can imagine, this saves me so much time since I can do it while on the go! No need to wait till I get home to log onto my computer.
Canva App: The Fastest Way to Create and Share Graphics
How do I use the Canva App in my blogging?
Let me give you a little behind the scenes look at how I use the Canva app for my blogging. I hope that this will give you a better idea of why I like to call the Canva app the fastest way to create and share graphics. The Canva app makes it so easy to create beautiful graphics for your blog!Click To Tweet
Here’s an example of a Pinterest graphic I created for a recent blog post on my blog. I created it from my computer via Canva.com. I could have easily created this same graphic straight from the app too. But what I like most is that no matter how I created it, on the website or the app, now I can access it right from my iPhone or iPad and easily edit it and/or share it any way I need to.
From the Canva app, I can now share this graphic via Pinterest or schedule a pin to one of my Pinterest Boards or Tailwind Tribes. Super easy!
I also created an additional image to share on my other social media channels, and I can now share that right from the Canva app too!
Sometimes I might want to edit the text in my previously created designs before sharing on my social media channels, and I can do that right from the Canva app too!
I love sharing to my social media channels right from the Canva app. Using it with Instagram is my favorite. Unlike other apps that will ask you to open the Instagram app once you are ready to post, the Canva app will send your post directly to Instagram. Talk about a time saver!
No need to go back to copy and paste text or complete annoying steps like other apps ask you to take before posting to Instagram. Instagram is fully integrated into the Canva app, and I love that! Easy peasy! The Canva app is the fastest way to create and share social media graphics!Click To Tweet
And while we are on the topic of Instagram. Many times I like to create graphics from scratch using the Canva app and then share them directly to Instagram (or other social media channels). Sometimes I’ll upload my own image. But a lot of times I just use one of the pre-existing designs within the Canva app. This just makes it the fastest way to create and share graphics anytime.
Create Something Fun: A Little Canva App Tutorial
It’s so easy to create a quick quote or a fun post to share on the go. To give you a better idea of how it works below is a quick little picture tutorial on how you can do this too!
Start by selecting a fun design.
Customize it by choosing different filters, etc.
Add some text…
and tap it to customize to your liking.
Make it fun by adding some elements (some of us might call this clip art).
Have fun with it by adding some color! Just tap on the element (or clip art) you want to customize.
You can even create a second page to your design. This comes in handy when you’re looking to create the same look and feel for a series of posts or even when creating things like presentations, for example.
And once you’re all done and ready, just click ‘share’ at the top right corner and make the magic happen! 🙂
Finally, download and share however and wherever you please! Notice there are so many more options than just social media. Airdrop and OneNote are some of my favorite options. I dare to say that it’s even easier than downloading from the Canva website itself. I love having all of these options!
And that’s it. You created something fun using the Canva app, fastest way to create and share graphics!
But that’s not all! There’s SO MUCH more you can create with the Canva app…
