Bloggers Overwhelm . . . is not a term we’ve used before because overwhelm is a pretty common thing among entrepreneurs. The real problem is when overwhelm turns into Burnout. Blogger Burnout is a blogger’s greatest risk. Blogger burnout begins when the output doesn’t equal the input.
When all the work on SEO doesn’t involve better rankings. When all the work on social media is thwarted by algorithm changes. When an ebook is made but copies aren’t sold.

How do we build something with x amount of work and have it worth ten times that much.

How to Avoid Blogger Burnout
Get Focused
The first step in avoiding blogger burnout is through goal setting, benchmarking, execution, measurement and follow-through. With a goal and benchmarks we can adjust our input when we don’t meet expectations. And changing things while they’re small is a powerful practice.
Let’s use an example. Let’s say we use Brainstormtools.com to find the perfect keyword. We know how much competition we must beat. We know how much traffic we should get from winning it. We can create a goal based on those numbers.
Most bloggers write the post with the keyword, do the social stuff, then move on to new posts. And hope it worked.

A focused blogger writes the post with the keyword, does the normal social stuff and moves on to the next post. Then two weeks later they check webmaster tools to see where they are currently ranked for the keyword and they make adjustments to move it up the ladder.
Focused bloggers also add incoming links, write guests posts on related sites, pin it on relevant boards, write about it in LinkedIn groups and more. Then two weeks later they look at Webmaster Tools again to see what effect that had on the keyword’s ranking. They continue to make these tweaks until they achieve the goal and they reap the reward.
More importantly, they chose that keyword in the first place because it either bolsters another post, drives traffic to the ebook sales funnel, or is a great keyword for ad monetization (for example). They have focus.
Decided on the Best Use of Your Time Right Now
You have to figure out what is the highest and best use of your time right now. Sometimes that is changing a meta description to improve the click-through rate of a post that is already ranked #1. Sometimes that is writing a guest post. Sometimes it is promoting an old post. That depends entirely on goals I hope you have. You can’t just blog every day and hope something happens. You can’t just make up a post idea every day and hope something happens. You are a true business owner. That means you must plan to succeed. And then go after it.
