Boosting your Instagram following has never been easier. Now you can use Buffer to schedule your posts and reach even more people. Buffer for Instagram will also save you tons of time as a blogger. Here’s how!
Since its acquisition by Facebook, the number of Instagram’s active users grew exponentially.
Because it’s a flexible platform, you can use it to:
- Promote your blog.
- Sell products.
- Search for new clients.
- Share what you’re up to.
- Meet people.
- Have fun.
You can find pretty much everything you want on your feed as well as interact with your favorite stars, influencers, and brands. All in one place.
In spite the recent changes in its algorithm and in the way you interact with your followers, Instagram is still a user-friendly tool that is worth investing in.
One of the disadvantages with Instagram is its lack of scheduling.
Instagram doesn’t offer the possibility of saving drafts within the tool (yet?) or schedule posts like Facebook pages.
Mainly for solo bloggers, who also play the role of social media managers, it isn’t an easy task to combine:
- High-quality images.
- Engaging copy.
- Timely posts.

How to Use Buffer for Instagram
To get started, you’ll have to connect your Instagram profile to your Buffer account. You can do it from your desktop or mobile app.
Once set and if you’re already accustomed to using Buffer, you’ll see that it’s pretty much the usual stuff.
Exactly!
Scheduling your Instagram posts through Buffer is very simple. All you have to do is create a reminder for your post.
A reminder, Debbie?!?
Yes, a reminder.
Unfortunately, Buffer doesn’t post directly to your Instagram. Instead, it sends you a reminder when it’s time to post.
While it might sound cumbersome at first, it’s still a lot better than creating your posts on the fly.
If you’re entirely new to Buffer, after connecting your profile, you’ll:
- Click on the composer.
- Add the image or video you want to post.
- Write a capture.
- Choose between adding your post to the queue, sharing it next, sharing it immediately or scheduling it for later.
At the time scheduled, you’ll receive a notification on your mobile about the post.
When you open Buffer app, you’ll see your post ready to be shared on Instagram.
If you’re like me and administrate various Instagram accounts on the same device, you’ll be prompted to confirm if you’re connected with the right one.
TIP: Don’t turn off the prompt! You might never know when you’ll need it.
After the check, simply click on “Open in Instagram” and Buffer will copy your capture and open the image (or video) on Instagram.
Before posting it, you can do any editing you want, including adding filters or resizing the image.
Then, it’s time to click on the capture field and paste1 your text.
Easier impossible, isn’t it?
All-in-all
While having reminders instead of a fully automatic scheduling system may not be the ideal solution, Buffer for Instagram is still a major time-savior for bloggers.
When promoting your content, instead of having to figure out on the spot the best image and text, you can prepare everything beforehand. At the appropriate time, all you have to do is post.
And no more typos because of autocorrection! You have enough time to read and edit your text as many times as you want.

You can strategically share your content at the best time to reach your followers even if it’s when you’re queueing at the grocery shop.
Buffer for Instagram allows you to be present without:
- Spamming your followers.
- Overloading yourself to a point you can’t even produce qualitative content anymore.
If you miss a reminder or even want to repost a previously scheduled image, all you have to do is check back the old reminders on Buffer’s queue. Everything is saved there and available at your convenience.
Another great reason to start using Buffer for Instagram is that it’s also available for the free accounts!
By scheduling your posts, you can:
- Work in bulk.
- Manage your time.
- Be more productive.
- Achieve more.
If you haven’t given Buffer for Instagram a try yet, stop wasting your time and start scheduling!
