Meet Debby Burns of The Security Diva
Meet Debby Burns:
As The Security Diva, I am on a crusade to bring common sense to security. I have found that most people outside of security or law enforcement do not have much common sense about their personal security. I see so many people put themselves and their family at risk. These risks may not seem Earth-shattering, but even little things can have big consequences.
What do you blog about on The Security Diva?
Security tips for every facet of your life.
How long have you been blogging? What motivated you to start?
I have been actually blogging for about a month, but I had the idea in my head for a long time.
I am very passionate about security and have noticed that most people do not think too much about their own personal security as well as their family’s. My desire to help people be as safe and secure as possible is what finally motivated me to get started.
What is your favorite part of blogging?
Hoping I help people stay safe and secure.
What is the hardest part about blogging for you?
I way over think EVERYTHING! Blog posts to graphics to social presence to marketing…. yeah everything!
Who is your favorite blogger – and why?
Raelynn Tan because I have gotten a lot of value from her posts on blogging. And also Haley Bradley. I have only been following her for a day and already I have been helped immensely by her content.
What do you do for fun when you aren’t blogging?
I am proud to say I am addicted to crocheting. I have been doing it since I was a teenager and I get so much enjoyment in creating something beautiful and useful.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
I have a very punny sense of humor. I get that from my Dad. No matter how eye-rolling or horrible a pun is, I will laugh at it and claim that “My daddy would laugh at that!”
What did you do before you began blogging? What skills do you have?
I am still a security officer in a family-friendly museum. I have a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice cybersecurity. My greatest skill set is in keeping not only people but their possessions safe.
Have you been published anywhere else either online or in print?
No, at least not yet!
What do you hope to achieve with your blog and online presence?
I hope to help people stay safe and secure. My goal is to help people see that their security is so much more than locking their doors and making sure they have the right anti-virus on their computers. There are a lot of little things that most people don’t realize are threats to their security and safety, I hope to bring as many of them to people’s attention as I can.
Until our next member interview and feature,
Haley & Kimberly
