Meet Victoria Pietz of Pattern Princess
Bio: I have been married to the same man for over 37 years now. I have one daughter that is getting married soon. We have a corgi dog, a few cats, a horse, and a donkey. My husband and I operated a dairy farm for years. I always worked off the farm too in restaurants, preparing taxes, at an automotive dealership, and eventually a two-year college where I continue to work now. I went to school part-time for many years until I finally achieved my doctorate in education. Now that I am no longer milking cows and going to school, I have some me time and my passion for creativity is shining. My blog is about easy crochet patterns, great tasting recipes, sewing and quilting ideas, starting a bog journey, or just a bit of this and that. I hope to inspire other people to be creative.
What do you blog about on The Pattern Princess?
I blog about all things crochet, recipes, sewing, creating, saving money, blogging, holidays – and anything in between!
How long have you been blogging? What motivated you to start?
Since January 2017. I have finally have a bit of me time and wanted to get my creative side going. I would love to be able to retire some day and do this full-time.
What is your favorite part of blogging?
The creativity and putting the story together. I am getting better and better at taking pictures.
What is the hardest part about blogging for you?
Learning how to set up and manage a website. It is all new to me. Making sure that there are no mistakes and what I am blogging about makes sense to the readers.
Who is your favorite blogger – and why?
I like Sewrella because she provides such detail in her blogs. I kept her website in mind as I developed my website.
What do you do for fun when you aren’t blogging?
I love to cook, crochet, sew, craft, and spend time with family and friends!

Tell us one fun fact about yourself.
I didn’t know how to even read a crochet pattern until last year. My grandmother taught me the basic stitches when I was ten or so. When I was young, I made bookmarks and other small projects. It wasn’t until I was in my twenties and very poor that I started crocheting again. I could buy ten dollars of yarn and make a nice blanket for someone. I would do a small swatch of stitches to make sure it blocked out and just make a whole blanket. That is what I did for years. Then I didn’t have time for many years to crochet anymore. Now that I have a bit more time and can read a crochet pattern, I have had a whole new world open up. I love it!
What did you do before you began blogging? What skills do you have?
I always had more than one job. I farmed for years and to help pay bills, I also cooked in restaurants, was a service manager in an automotive dealership for many years, and now I am a dean of a division at a two-year college. While working a few jobs and taking care of my family, I also went to school part-time for many, many years and finally completed my doctorate of education January 2014.
Have you been published anywhere else either online or in print?
Gosh, years and years ago, I wrote a children’s story and a column about small business finances for a blog. I have had my dissertation published.
What do you hope to achieve with your blog and online presence?
Entertain, educate, motivate people to achieve their dreams!
