Unleash the Power of the Party

August 30, 2014 by Brittany Leave a Comment

Link parties and blog hops can be a very important tool when it comes to blogging, and increasing your overall blog traffic.  There are all kinds of great parties out there, and many are geared toward specific types of blogs.  So find your niche and party it up, but remember to keep a few things in mind when linking up.

Like think about your audience, and choose a picture and title accordingly.  For example I often use weird and quirky names for my blog post titles.  They tie into my blog post, but would often make absolutely no sense to someone just going by the title.  So give a clear concise title that both explains the post, and catches the viewers attention.  Next find that money shot!

This isn’t a horrible picture.  It is, however, sporting dog food in the background, and the picture doesn’t do justice to the feature on the seat.

This one however draws the eye to the true signature of this piece, and it much more likely to intrigue the viewer.

Remember that you only have a small thumbnail size photo to capture peoples attention.  I have clicked a link before because the picture was just too awesome looking to pass up.

Then remember to leave some love!  I don’t know about everyone, but I live and breath for every comment left on one of my posts.  Mostly because I love hearing people tell me how awesome I am.  So make sure that you leave a nice word for your awesome host.  She is giving you a place to brag about your project, and increase your traffic she deserves a few moments of your time.

Lastly, most parties have features.  If you are lucky enough to get a feature.  Then share the love.  I do this by taking to social media (Facebook, Google+, and Twitter).  Of course you can share your party links on social media anytime, and I’m sure the hostess is crazy grateful.  After all, the party increases her blog traffic too.

Just remember to get out there and have fun.  Most times it takes simple trial and error to find the groove that works for you.
