Welcome to the World Wide Web, a paradise of free resources and help. Today I’ll tell you how free web tools helped me become a better blogger. Some of you may be thinking, impossible! You need money to grow as a blogger. Not really. You can start with a lot of the free resources that the internet provides. These are all at your fingertips. And free!
Become a Better Blogger
The first free tool I used was Blogspot (a free blogging platform sometimes considered the same as Blogger). An excellent tool if you want to get your feet wet and find out if blogging is really for you. I used it for two years until I was sure that blogging was what I wanted to do. Then I went out and bought my domain name. I now use WordPress.
Create Better Images
Once I got that settled, I searched for how to grow in other ways. If you’re serious about blogging, images will become your priority. When I first started I had a domain bust and still didn’t have a budget to buy various programs to help my blog grow, including one to help me edit my images. Thank goodness for free resources! I use PicMonkey to this day and it’s helped me become a better blogger. I use the free version, absolutely amazing! And now there’s even an app so you can edit images right on your smartphone.
Come Up With a Content Strategy
So we have Blogspot, took care of images, but what about titles and content? Titles and content are what capture your audience. Without paying attention to them you might as well stop blogging. But when used correctly there’s no doubt that they’ll help you become a better blogger.
Got an idea for an article or blog post, plug it to Portent’s Content Idea Generator. As a matter of fact, I used it to help me come up with the title and content for this article. This tool makes it so easy to come up a content strategy. Go ahead and give it a try so you can become a better blogger too!

Proper Grammar Matters
When writing your content you also need to have proper grammar and syntax in place. Content without good grammar is like fish out of water. Thanks to another IBA member, Monica, a.k.a NYCTechMommy, I now use the Grammarly Chrome Extension. It’s an excellent tool to make sure your grammar game is on point!
Get the Words Out
Now everything is in order. But even then we sometimes still need a little extra help. A good thesaurus and dictionary come in handy when your brain is experiencing writer’s block. These free online tools always help me get the words out.
Don’t Forget SEO
Last but not least, let’s not forget the all important SEO ( Search Engine Optimization). I like using Google SEO Tools to help me because it has all of the information I need to get my website ranked quickly, and correctly.
Find Even More Help
Besides all the above-mentioned tools, you also have a few other free resources that can come in handy. I also like to use Youtube, Facebook Blogging Groups, and Blogging Associations, like the IBA. 😉
I’m the blogger that I am today thanks to many of these online tools. Now I’m able to provide basic knowledge to other beginning bloggers like you.
Hoping the tools I shared here today help you become a better blogger! Is there a free online tool you like to use as a blogger. Please share it in the comments section below.
