Why Is My Comment Box Empty? A Common Question Many Bloggers Ask
Here Are Four Reasons And Solutions!
Yes, this is a common question many bloggers ask!
It’s obvious that blog authors eagerly wait for comments!
Why are no comments showing up in my comment box?
Where did it go? When will it get some?
Oh my… How can I get some comments on my posts?
These are some of the anxious questions all bloggers ask in the beginning of their blog journey.
Yes, we the blog authors eagerly wait to hear the feedback from our esteemed readers on our posts. These feedback comes in the form of comments at the comment column or box. Yes, the many object of any blogger is to get comments or feedback from their readers. Of course that give him a kind of boosting in his further writing, and it also helps him to improve or rectify the things in his future writings.
But alas! A new blogger has to wait more time to see a comment in his comment box. The reasons are many. I would like to point out some of the reasons why many of the new bloggers are not getting responses to their well written post thru their comment boxes.
I am sure the following reasons play a vital role in this! If taken care you will get enough comments into your comment box. So let us be aware about it and be cautious while we do blogging!
Reason #1: You are not posting constructive and insightful comments on fellow blogger’s pages.
One of the main reasons I found from my own experience for not getting comments is that our non-participation in the fellow blogger’s pages. If we engage with other fellow bloggers thru comments there is a good chance to get a return visit and a response in our comment box.
So make it a point to visit fellow blogger’s pages and read and post constructive comments. I am sure seeing your insightful comments others also may notice it and have a curiosity to see your page and there are many chance to get other bloggers attention too in this regard. And most of them will land on your page with a lovely comment. 🙂
Though many of my fellow bloggers are doing this, a good number of newbies here do not know this fact. So my sincere advice to my fellow newbies is that, visit at least a minimum of 5 blog pages (in the long run you can increase the numbers to 10 or so) of your niche, read thoroughly and post constructive comments. I am sure some of your readers and of course the blogger who receives the comment will respond to your comment and mostly they even visit your page and return the favor by posting a comment at your page. Though some may call this as a barter system and they do not follow it but I do not support or believe that idea.
While making comments at fellow bloggers post, please note that your comments should not be a one line comment or a generic one like, good post, Excellent, keep it up, wonderful etc. instead read the content thoroughly and make a relevant and constructive comment. That will surely catch the attention of other fellow bloggers and they too will visit your page and if they like your contents they will post their opinion in the comment box and some may even promote your page through their social sites.
Reason # 2: The ‘Word Verification’ From Your Comment Box is not removed.
This is another reason I found for the less participation of the fellow bloggers and readers. The word verification at the comment box is indeed an irritating thing to your visitor.
In this busy world, if a reader coming to your page itself is a great thing and if he or she decides to post a comment in return is yet another great thing. But when the visitor found this irritating process of captcha business provided some may literally go away from without posting a comment.
This happened to me at several places and sometimes I tried to fill the captcha word and number which never accept as correct. In one case I tried almost ten times to post a comment at one of my friends place, but at last I could succeed and I mentioned this problem at the same comment as a post script. This I do generally with all the places where I comment when I found this captcha trouble.
I am sure most of your visitors never take that much pain to spend time at our places to play with the word verification. This problem is faced mainly in the blogger platform.

Reason # 3: No proper Promotion of your Posts through Social media.
Yes, we are the authors and we need to promote our posts! I wrote about this in one of my earlier posts and I repeat the same sentence here again:
“Unless we do the promotion of our blog posts who else will do for us?”
Yes, the primary factor is that promotion should take place and it should start with us. There are a good number of social websites now available for our use. Prominent among them are Facebook, Google Plus, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Digg and many others. Use these sites to promote your posts. You can even place these plugins in your blog pages, so that without going directly to the sites a click from these buttons you can promote it to these pages. There are number of widgets available in the market free as well as pro. Among them I use “Sharethis” button. This is free and presently I use this in my Blogger pages and WordPress pages.
Here is the link to their page. This button is available in different format and size. According to your needs you can select the button. It is very easy to place this button in your web/blog pages. How to embed this button in your pages is as simple as that since the company provided tutorials for each platform in that website. Visit this page and avail this for your easy share. Reason # 4: You Do Not Ask Your Readers to Air their Views, Opinion, Suggestions etc.
There is nothing wrong in asking. I am reminded of a famous Bible verse, it says and I quote: “Ask and it shall be given unto you”
Yes, unless you ask how you will get it or how others will know your requirements.
Yes, when it comes to the subject of blog and blog comments the same theory may be applied! So why not ask your fellow bloggers to post their opinion suggestion or whatever they feel about the post you published.
In blogging feedback can get within no time from the readers, whereas in the print media as we all know it’s a long process. At blog posts the readers can opine their reaction through the comment box. This can be done by asking few questions to them and to share their opinion or their experience in this regard. I am sure, some readers may come up with some counter questions or answers, or suggestions. That will surely pave way to build a communication between you and your readers and in due course those friends will re-share your post link to their social networks and to their friends’ networks.
Some may even go a step further and may post a review about it. This will surely lead many readers to your page and that eventually leads to filling your comment box. So do not hesitate to ask your readers to post their experiences, suggestions, opinion etc. through the comment box. This can be done at the concluding paragraph of your post.
The well-known blog author and trainer Cherry Schmidt wrote in one of her latest posts and I quote: “You always want to think about ways to get others commenting. Ask questions and always encourage others to comment on everything that you do.
Cherry recently wrote a Guest Post for my blog in relation to blog commenting. Please read that here at this link. Guest Post by Cherry Schmidt.
In short:
“BLOG COMMENTING is the best and the easiest way to get return comments as well as to get associated with fellow bloggers around the world”
Let us make note of these reasons while we do the blogging!
