Hidden Gems at Universal’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter

November 23, 2018 by IBA Member Leave a Comment

Harry Potter fans, rejoice! IBA Member Linda from A Labour of Life shares some hidden gems you don’t want to miss when visiting Universal Studios’ Wizarding World of Harry Potter

London Street in Harry Potter

1) The Fountain from the Ministry of Magic

As you meander past Men in Black and head to the London Streets you need to take a moment and check out the fountain. It’s the fountain from The Ministry of Magic. Take a moment and really look at the fountain. Just like Harry and the crew you might be surprised by what you find.

2) 12 Grimmauld Place and Kreacher

Look to your right those homes are not  just for show.  It is actually Grimmauld place.  If you walk up and down the street and look at just the right moment you will see Kreacher looking out.  I swear he is still waiting for Harry, Ron and Hermione to get home.

3) The Knights Bus

the Knights Bus

If we are wondering the streets of London looking for Harry and Diagon Alley, why wouldn’t we be looking for the Knight’s Bus.  You cannot get on but you can meet Stan and Dre-Head. Be careful what you ask you might not  hear what you want. The head really does talk and the conductor fully stays in character.

4) Call the Ministry of Magic

The London Phone Box is not just an Instagram shot waiting to happen, you can actually call the Ministry of Magic. If you dial 62442 (MAGIC) in the phone booth outside King’s Cross, it will connect you to the Ministry of Magic. Try it a few times, the messaging is different.

5) Kings Cross

Kings Cross

Take your time as you are going through.  I have been twice to the Universal side and I have yet to see every thing.  Did you know at King’s Cross Station, there’s a perfume ad that resembles the one Harry and Dumbledore stand by in Half-Blood Prince.  I have missed that twice already. Hoping to really catch a few more tidbits in May when I go back.

Be aware of your surroundings

Even walking through both train stations I am always amazed at the detail. Everything from spotting Harry’s luggage to minute detailing on the walls.  Always be watchful and see what secrets you can reveal.
